FYI,

We are working with a local company to have a run of military dimension 2 position buffer tubes (receiver extension) manufactured.

I don't have an exact date for samples, but it could be sometime in July.

They will be anodized in "XM" gray.

I was pulling my hair out for one of these awhile back

I'll still take one for the Future Carbine Builders of America

does that mean there is a chance of NDS alloy stock bodies like these?

Awesome!

I was hopeful that you'd do these eventually/

As long as you are doing that type of machining, why not offer 3-pos or other, later military configurations as well? Why? Well, I have a 2-pos Milspec stock for my 635 build, but I prefer the other positions sometimes, so am considering using a commercial stock on it. (Gasp) Just a thought. Mil-spec tubes in any configuration ought to sell well - it seems everyone is always looking for them. I have a Colt M4 stock body for a beater build, for example, but I need a mil-size tube for it, but I want more than 2 positions on that rifle. Maybe you could charge an extra $5 a hole or something.

It seems that 4-pos tubes might be a worthwhile offering as well.

While they used to be readily available from dealers with CMT stuff, they are pretty hard to find these days.

+1 for MILSPEC stock bodies (I don't mind the velcro, but if I didn't need it...)

+1 for 2 and 4 position tubes.  There are plenty of 5 & 6 positions out there.

p.s.  +1 more for MILSPEC stock bodies

At this point we are only going to do the buffer tubes.

The stock bodies are available from other vendors.

EA was the last game in town but they are out with no idea when, or if, they will re stock.

This is effen sweet!!

More reason to spend money.

Thanks for considering/offering all these parts.

looking forward to getting some NDS parts.  I'm already planning on overnighting my payment for an xm16e1 and a 601 lower as soon as they are available.  These buffer tubes are next on my list.  I don't think aluminum stock bodies are available anymore from EA so maybe NDS should jump on those too, it would probably be a worthy investment.

I would be down for a tube and a body, or two...

Mine are commercial, anodized and powder coated - no matter who made 'em.

If EA is outta the game, looks like an open market...

Who all makes aluminum stock bodies? Is it only EA, or does anyone else do it?

ETA: I should read the rest of the thread more cloesly

I don't need one, but it's still cool that you're making them...

The 2 position receiver extension is the one item I liked the least about retro carbines. I vote for a 4 position.

How about the retro type receiver extension "ring", without the cuts?  Or is that included with the tube?

Mike, if you want to borrow one of mine for any reason, let me know.

Mike, Would it be that much more difficult to tool up and make rifle buffer tubes without the wrench flats, and/or bore some holes in them like the earliest tubes?
6/6/2009 6:32:51 AM EDT
[#25]
Any idea on price? What am I talking about, I don't need any more 2-pos tubes.
