I figured the dies for the first run weren't finalized and the 6061 was easier on the pre regular production run forging dies if they were made from a lighter weight test sample type material. Then we cut everything from the A1 forgings. Still too much. So we had more dies made. Also, I didn't like how skinny the front pin boss is on a reprofiled A2 lower forging. When we designed the dies we beefed up the pin boss substantially.
