I'm installing a 050" wide square post from Brownells.
As you can see from the image below, the post is slightly ramped running fore to aft. I imagine the post was ramped along the long edge for a reason, but can't figure why. Simple question, in the interest of good focus, should the ramp point toward or away from the shooter?
Thanks!

I have the same FSP. The ramp is irritating as it changes the way the sight reflects light depending on how you zero the rifle. I just filed it flat and touched it up with cold blue... now it is the same from either side.

Thanks StealthyBlagga;
I had a feeling that the ramp would change the way the sight reflects light depending on it's orientation.
For now, I don't want to file on the post. Does anyone else have a recommendation on the optimal position of the sight?

Don't know what to say about the best position for your sight. You can get a .050" NM front sight from DPMS that is the same when viewed from any of the four sides. These work great on my two bushmaster A2's. Got mine through midway.
