I have a tool in my tool box that I can't figure out what is is for.  I believe it is from browneils.  It is pin punch like black with a knurled handle, about 3/16 in diameter.  the center if the pin punch has a hole, concentric with the punch, about 1/16 dia.  Then there is a flat ground on one side of the punch from the tip to maybe  1/4" back.  they removed most, but not all of the material from the outer diameter to the center hole.  It almost has to be a AR15 or 870 specific tool.  Were the diameter different, I would think it mite be a tool for the AR15 pivot pin, but its too small, and there would be no need for the center drill.

TIA

If I understand your description, it sounds like a Bolt Catch roll pin installation tool.  Got one; it makes installation much easier.

I'll post a pic tommorow.  My camera is TU. so I'll have to borrow one.  Unlike the bolt catch pin punch, my handle is standard diameter, they just machined a flat on the end of the punch from the tip to 1/4" back from the tip.  Handle is round, knurled and probally 5/16" diameter.

I think I'll name that tool Bob.

The way I read what you typed it sounds like a roll pin holder that I have.  It is used for starting the roll pin in the bolt catch and then you switch over to the roll pin punch to fully seat it.
Does this look like the one you have?
