One of the better El Cheapo scopes out there. I don't have one mounted on an AR but I do have one strapped to a Colt Python and it's held up very well to the pounding. The lighted rectical works great, and all in all I am pleased with the scope.

I would NOT use it on a tactical weapon, but for a plinker, (even a .357 caliber) they are OK.

Ive got one one an AR and it does great. I bought a pistol scope for the added eye relief and I dont have to close one eye. Strictly a 100 yard scope but its held zero and the illuminated reticle is nice.

got the base bdc model ($32), two screws shot loose and fell out within the first 100rnds., replaced with some ss ones from the hardware store and red loctited all four in, have fired about 4k rnds since then and it held its zero.

Well, I don't have that kind of shooting out of my scope because I got it for christmas, but it has held zero since then.

I have the Colt style and like it. It is a little heavy but holds zero.

Wizzo- that looks like an HK lower on that rifle (with the pictograms.)  Is it HK, or is some other mfg making pictogram lowers?

I had one for some time and it held 0 fine...

No issues and the illuminated reticle was sharp.

jwise,

Pic should say what company is. All I did was use some toothpicks and some craft paint that my mom had laying around that she got from wally*world. I basically filled the letters in and wiped the excess away with my finger. Nothing fancy. After about 2 coats to fill up some light (or dark in this case) spots, I taped everything off and went at it with a couple coats of polyurethane to seal the paint in there. If you concentrate really hard, it looks like SH*T, but I have only had the rifle that close to my face once or twice ...........so it looks great

Actually from 2 feet away it looks damn good and I'm pleased with my 30 minutes worth of work.

I got a used 4X30 with illuminated recticle off the EE for $20.00
It works just fine for plinking. If I had $500 to $1K to drop on something serious, I would have. Since I don't the NcStar will have to do for now. I don't think I would trust my life with it, but I don't think they are as bad as some of the people say they are on the Optics Discussion Forum.

I had one on my AR for like 3 weeks. It was a 3-9 illuminated reticle. The eye relief was terrible.

It seems that if one wanted a scope mounted w/ quik detach rings for a 16" AR for hunting purposes--this one would fit the bill pretty well.

I am mostly thinking of it's short length.  A long, high magnification optic on a 16" or M4 looks kinda outa place.

I am thinking of getting the 3-9 rubber armored. with the red iluminated reticle. I want the one that mounts to the carry handle. there is a little 4 power model that has a dark green reticle for night use. I am not sure how that is better...

That's the one I have on my M4gery above. It's got red and green lights.

Coincidentally, the red settings all seem to be too bright for use during low light, and the green seem to be a little dim, except for the brightest green setting. It's ok on that setting.

BTW, I have never used IM either so I can't help you there
