You might be better off buying from Legal Transfers as you'll be able to get a complete upper rather than just the upper and barrel from RRA and Pete can build it up any way you want. Legal Transfers also sells chrome-line RRA barrels which are only about $30 more than the one you planned on. You'll also need a complete bolt/carrier and charging handle. I didn't see that on your list. I personally would opt for either a Back Up Iron Site or detachable carry handle over the Chinese scopes. With the grips, I think it is just a personal thing. They're all different shapes and sizes and you just have to find one that your hand likes. The G27 grip is a little fatter than the Hogue. Also keep in mind there is such a backorder on most AR manufacturers that it may take a couple months before you even receive the rifle after ordering. You might have a better chance ordering from one of the Industry Parners vs. ordering direct from RRA. That's just my opinion and it doesn't mean much

You can get most of the RRA parts through eaglefirearms.net I have had good results with them. You can also go with a Stag lower (same as RRA) and save a couple bucks. The Stag quality is excellent. +1 on the BUIS vs. the cheap optics. I like to build my stuff to take a licking. I used a Aimpoint Comp M2 and a LMT BUIS for my sighting package. If I should take a nasty enough hit to break the scope, one lever and I am back to good old irons. It all depends on what your are building it for. |
