Hi Guys,
I am almost finished my first build, but have created a small problem for myself.
I put the pin retaining clip on the wrong side, and now the ejection port cover rubs against the brass deflector when I try and close it all the way.
I guess the clip needs to be on the left side to provide more clearance at the deflector.

How to I get the retaining clip out of there?
I am having a heck of a time with it.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom :-)

Uh, do you mean the tiny C clip that retains the ejection port cover pin? It needs to be to the muzzle side of the ejection port. If the ejection port cover is rubbing on the brass deflector that's not an issue with the location of the clip.

I appreciate your reply tweak, but the width of that little clip is exactly how much space would be required to clear the deflector.
BTW: I did 3 upper recievers the same way and they all interfere like this (all parts are same brand.)

Why do you think it HAS to be muzzle side?
BTW: I put the clip between the cover and the hinge barrel that is forged into the reciever, not on the outside of the hinge barrel. I assumed this was required to keep the pin from floating free.
(hope you can visualize what I am trying to describe)

thanks again Tweak!

Well, I guess I could be a smart as and ask what makes YOU think they should be on the buttstock side but I'll just answer the question. The ejection port cover pin cannot slide to the front as it will hit the barrel nut assembly. It can slide to the rear so there is a clip on the front to keep that from happening.

Yeah, I can. You stuck the clip between the bosses for ejection port cover pin instead of outside of the muzzle side boss. The clip is between the front boss and the edge of the ejection port cover. The clips should pop off with a small (jeweler's) screwdriver. Did you RTFM?

You're welcome BroncoMafia. You're just lucky I locked your dupe post in the Troubleshooting Forum. Those guys would have eaten you alive, they're ruthless. [lol]

ETA, you are setting the C clip into the annular groove in the ejection port cover pin right?
