Ok so I get my LPK today and follow the step by steps instructions on the site.(fairly easy. I got everything together with no issue except the selector switch has play in it. It wiggles back and forth and in and out. On fire straight up is between the I & R and i can move the selector while on fire back between the F & I . Whole on SAFE it stops even with the center line on the E but I can move it to just above the top of the E. I can also rock it in and out 2/32 of an inch. It functions correctly but it just doesnt seem right that the selector should have that much play in it. Is this normal? Is it something I did wrong? Is there something wrong with the LPK or the receiver? All these questions are filling my head. This is my first build and I feel like crap because it just doesnt seem right. On top of that the lower is a registered SBR so I hope and pray it isnt something with the lower receiver. Please if anyone can help me resolve this I would reatly appreciate it. Thank in advance: Fred |
Yes the detent is in. The LPK is DPMS purchased off the board from RBPRECISION Everything was together nicely and all there I just dont know what the issue could be. I just pulled the grip off and took out the spring, detent and selector switch. Should I be able to push the detent all the way through the hole into the hole the selector switch goes? As it is now the just the tip of the detent protrudes through about 3/4 of the point on the detent. If it should go all the way through then it would be easy enough to use a needle file to clean the hole a bit. |

If memory serves, the detent should go all the way up to top of the selector hole and be pretty stiff. Probably the hole in the pistol grip is drilled too deep not putting enough pressure on the spring. Try a different grip. If not, then the spring maybe a little short, try a different spring. or Find a small nail the same diameter as the hole in the pistol grip and cut a small peice to act like a plug at the bottom. This will make the spring push the detent up better. |
It isnt the spring or the grip then the hole apears a smaller diameter at the top opening not allowing the detent to slide all the way up and through. I put in the detent and pushed from the bottom with a punch and it wont go up. Can anyone else confirm it should go all the way up into the selector switch hole? If this is the case i can just use a needle file to open the top of the hole a bit to let the detent all the way through. I didnt want to try this before knowing for sure it should pass all the way up unobstructed and not just a part of the point of the detent stick up. |

I've had similar problems when the spring hole in the grip doesn't line up perfectly with the spring hole in the lower receiver. The spring will compress and bind at the point of transition from the grip to the receiver, and this prevents any spring pressure on the selector. I've solved it by taking a drill bit and opening up the size of the hole in the grip. Don't drill it deeper, just make it larger around. When you push the grip on, look at the spring and see if it looks like it's binding when the grip is tightened all the way down, it's pretty obvious if you look for it. |
| The detent should only enter the selector "hole" about 1/8 (not go ALL the way in). If it does, doesn't really matter. Check the groove and detent holes in the selector. Make sure they are clean dimples (not mis-machined). Also check that you did not swap the selector spring with a take-down spring. |
I finally caught what you were saying on this one. No the detent should not be able to go through the hole. It is a two cut hole if done at home (or a single cut at manufacture). The first hole is drilled 1/8 all the way through, then widened to 5/32 about 3/16 of the way down. This allows the detent to be captured with its rim, that way when the safety selector comes out the detent won't go flying. |

Ok I got it The Hole was a little off. I took a needle file that barely fit and ran it through a little bit and tested and it connected better so kept doing this a little at a tima and it locks into position like it is supposed to now with a click in each position Thanks for the info guys. |
