Hey just got my new rifle in. It is a DD with factory installed Omega X Rail. It did not come with any sights. I have been looking around at different sights to see what direction I should go. The sights wil be my primary until I have he $$ to get Aimpoint Pro or Micro. I want something that is rugged and will hold up to decently rough use. I looked at the Magpul MBUS and am really interested. If anyone has expereince with them please share it good or bad. I have looked at the MI but saw some bad reviews for it on BCM. The Troy flip ups seem goos but are pretty expensive but if I must I would go with them if I cannot find a pair close to as good for less $$$. I want the front and rear to be the flip up variety not the fixed. Please provide any experiences with any flip up BUIS sights you have or had used. I would also welcome any suggestions. T

Thanks guys.

I have a DD upper with a 12" Omega X rail too.  When I first bought it, I put a set of the Magpul flip ups on there.  The did fine until I bought a PRO.  I used just the Magpuls for about a year I guess.  If you are like me (not kicking in doors and all that) then the plastic sights will be fine.  If your usage determines a need for metal sights, then you need to go that route  (you could look at Samson too for metal sights).

Samson

ETA: It's worth noting that even though the Magpuls are plastic, I do find them to be tough.  My AR spent quite a bit of time last year in the woods, on a 4 wheeler, in and out of cases, riding the bed of a truck, leaning up against trees, casual run and gun with friends, etc.  That's the extent of "rough use" on my rifle, so if your definition of "rough use" is similar, then the Magpuls would be fine.

ETA 2:  I added a Meprolight tritium front sight post to the front sight becasue James Wesley, Rawles told me to.

The MBUS are decent BUIS for the price but given the choice I say Troy all the way

Go Troy or go home...

I would not run a plastic sight as a primary.

Me either, but these are BUIS (Back Up Iron Sights) not "primary". He's saving up for an Aimpoint.

Spend the money and get the Troys, they are the best.  Rock solid, look great, easily sold if you want to ditch them later.

Holler at Kevin at Bright Flashlights (search on the web), for a great deal.
