I am getting ready to order another RRA A4 upper, 16" BBL and I see that they now offer DD rails as an option.

I can see that DD has a good reputation, but their website does not give a lot of details.  I assume they are a one piece and can someone explain the difference between the regular rail and the their FSP length?

I am planning to order a midlength A4 along with a Weaver style gas block, to add flip up sights later.  I assume the DD FSP rail fits under the gas block? Where as the regular style fits in back of the gas block?

RRA also offers a Quad Rail (looks like a YHM) for a third of the price of the DD, I assume the DD is worth the extra moeny ($130 vs. $305)

Any pic and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The DD rails are a very nice unit.  They free float the barrel and do require professional installation.

The FSP has cutouts to use with the normal front sight base as well as rails that extend past the front sight base.

This is the DD 12.0 FSP M which is the FSP version that would work with a 16" mid length such as the RRA barrel you describe.

The Rock River ones are made for them by YHM (so are Bushmasters)  The Daniel Defense ones are definately worth the extra $$.

I think a decent retail price on the DD 9.0 (regular midlength) is $275.  The one with the extra bit of meat up front is definitely a deal if you want that.  I would recommend it because you can place your bipod further up without doing anything goofy (although some might think that particular forend is goofy all by itslf.)

The only thing that disappointed me is the welds on the rear end of the tube.  I'm surprised they didn't take a little more time to grind those down or something...
