Ok, I just got my RAS-II and I have an installation question.  How far back from the front sight post should the RAS unit be?  I ask because while I was installing it, I could not find a place where it fit in next to the front sight post like regular handguards do.  I would post a picture but my camera is with my brother now.

Also, the delta ring seems to be held in a position that is more compressed than it was with regular M4 handguards.  Is any of this normal?

And also, if anyone has a RAS-II, pictures of their front sight post area would be great, especially profile shots.  They might allow me to see if what I am asking about is normal with all RAS-II units.  Thanks!

This is all normal. Sorry I can't show picks.
The front of the RAS II shouldn't touch the front handguard cap. My is so close that any longer and it would be touching. Could probably only stick 1 or 2 pieces of paper in there. This tiny gap keeps the front free floating.
The delta ring is compressed as well. It's no problem.
Great piece of kit. You'll like it. Your groups will be much more consistent now.
Thanks.....Chad

Ok thanks.  I was beginning to wonder whether it was supposed to be touching the front handguard cap.  But like you said, it doesn't, but it sure is close.  And with the delta ring I asked because during installation, I found it tough to keep it compressed constantly.  And getting the screw onto the flattop was tough because the delta ring kept pushing the upper piece of the RAS-II forward, and hence disaligning the hole with the flattop slot.

Plus, those two allen wrench screws went in and out easily enough, but I wondered, during re-installing them, whether or not the were catching or not as it was hard to tell.  You ever think this?

I got mine from MSTN.  I placed an order and got myself on a waitlist.

Got mine from JT Distributing a while back.  They had the best price and had them in-stock at the time.  You'll have to call them though, as they were not advertised.

Any word on whether the problem in my second post is normal or not?  Thanks!

Yes sir, still all very normal. Pulling back on the delta ring and alining the screw and inserting the screw; It's ALMOST a two person job, but I've always been able to get it by myself. Just have to use alot of weird hand movements. It is really very easy. The screws, I'm not sure what you are talking about. I never make them to tight, only using the long end of the allen wrench so as not to torque too much. I check the screws every other cleaning of the gun or so, and they've never worked their way out.
Thanks.....Chad
