What is the minimum inside length measurement of a standard AR15 30 round magazine?
I've got a new mag that won't function. While I'm waiting for the East Coast to wake up, I'm wondering what that measurement is. I'd like some other measurements to confirm my belief this mag is defective. The mag in question is a black Teflon mag, orange Magpul? follower, with a bad zig–zag spot weld job. The inside length of a good NHMTG mag is 2.395 The inside length measurement of the suspect magazine(bonus points if you guess the maker) is 2.354. This seems too short. This mag will only hold four or five rounds of Federal brown box XM193 and won't feed more than two or three. Rounds jam up at the curve. Looks like this will be a range mag only. Or I'll salvage the guts and get another mag body. I just took them out of the wrapper. According to the vendor I got them from, the 30 day return period is up so I'm SOL. I only have two of these mags and the other one "seems" to work fine. It will be a range mag also. No rant today. I have no expectation I can return/exchange them because I waited too long before inspecting them. No pics either. Camera is DOA at this time. Thanks ZM |

send it back to cproducts Gee how'd you know? I'll keep the spring, baseplate and follower for a rebuild and chuck the body. Based on some of the reports here, I'm not inclined to beat my head against the wall to get a replacement That zig-zag spotweld is a sight! |
