sf x300 This, Elzetta (sp?) may be good for handhelds but weaponlights are a whole different ball-game. Surefire has proven themselves for the past few decades in the weaponlight market both in the mil/leo and civilian sectors. IMO there is no reason to look elsewhere for a light that you have even the slightest possibility of having your life depend on. There may be brighter or cheaper options, but you will be hard pressed to find a light that is as durable and that has a company that is guaranteed to stand behind it and be there in 10 years. Check the EE for a Scout-light, mini-scout, x200a, x200b, x300, or millennium series light. Budget about $200 for a very good condition weaponlight and check the EE for a few days, there are lots to choose from. |

The Elzetta ZFL-M60 was designed around the legendary Malkoff M60 LED Module specifically to be a weapon-mounted Light. With fully-potted electronics and a host of other unique design features, Elzetta makes the toughest lights on the planet. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of misinformation in the market place and a lot of blind brand loyalty to historic brands. Beginning with the June 2011 issue of SWAT Magazine, we are running ads to educate readers on the detailed differences that truly make Elzetta "A New American Standard in Tactical Lighting". Here is the ad for June: |
im with him^^^ I actually got to play with my first elzetta the other day and i was incredibly impressed. I have a m951 which is heavy and not very bright, an olight m20 which is super bright, light weight, and great run time but cant 110% trust my life on it. I only played with it at the range and actually got to beat it up quite a bit (he wanted to see if we could get it to quit ). We did everything short of shoot it because while we wanted to see what it took to kill it, we hated to waste a good light and can't possibly expect it to live after direct gun fire So i have to respectfully disagree with the guy who says that surefire are the only way to go because in my eyes the elzetta beats any hand held light surefire makes, and even the weapon mounted ones but im trying to keep it apples to apples. my 2 cents

I use sf x300 on my rifles..... but my everyday carry lite is an elzetta.....just like the one pictured above..... been carrying it for right at a year now.....got it from the battery station, kind of a beta tester for them....I can tear up a ball bearing in a sand box with a rubber mallet ,,,It has been absolutely flawless..... has been dropped off my fourwheeler doing about 50mph...no problems....pounded nails, no problems.....chopped a cinder block in half with the bezel teeth, no problems and after all this, it is just missing a very little bit of anodizing......
I would absolutely not hesitate to put an elzetta product on my rifle..... I trust my life to one every day. |

I'm not going to say Elzetta doesn't make a good (excellent from all reports) light. Hell, their handhelds (to my knowledge, they don't make a Scout-light or X300 competitor) could very well be just as well made as Surefire. Hell, they are another company making high-end lights in the US, and that is something we can all stand behind.
But, I will say that Surefire has more than earned our trust and support. I would put their weaponlights up against any in the business. But where they really shine, as I mentioned before, is the quality of their customer service, and most importantly, the security of the company itself. Not saying anything bad about Elzetta, but were I betting on which company would be around in 10-20 years to honor that "lifetime warranty", Surefire would get my bet. Basically, to boil my argument for Surefire down, it would go as follows; 1) Surefire makes a quality light (durability, brightness, product selection- any light for any purpose from a Saint to a Hellfighter) 2) Surefire has top notch customer service (you can beat the shit out of their products and they will send you replacements when they break) 3) Surefire will be around to stand by that warranty today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now. (Government contracts if nothing else will ensure this is the case) Again, not knocking Elzetta (or any other quality US manufacturer), I just think that Surefire is the safest bet, especially considering the price paid for weapon-lights. |

Check out the Olight M20 warrior as a option. There's a torture test on youtube somewhere. Nice little light.
