Hello All, I know nothing about the different kinds of slings available. I want one that I can carry my Colt M4. I don't wanna waste money on the wrong one. I just got one of those and I've been finding it to be very versatile, offering different carrying and shooting positions. msz, Without knowing what you do with your weapon, and what role you want your sling to provide, its impossible for anyone to give you a realistic answer. I've run most different styles of slings betwen my MIL & LE career, and for what I do, the www.gearsector.com/ (formerly TAG Industry) works the best. I wouldn't want to use it for extended carry over my shoulder on a day hike, but that isn't what I do with my weapons. For CQC/ tac shooting, its currently the best. +1 I have come to the realization that 3-point slings are unnecessarily complicated and bulky, unless you're going to be patrolling, climbing or performing other tasks while carrying a long gun that would require the "hands-off" stability they offer. For casual range use, personal defense and training courses (the three areas in which I might utilitze a long gun), simplicity and speed are much more important. I decided to revisit the single-point sling by T&Eing an ASP on my Recon Carbine. I liked the system so much that I recently bought another sling, and enough connectors to outfit the rest of my ARs and AKs. Awesome product, and Rainier Arms offers great customer service. If your needs require a 3-point design, then I recommend the Spectergear SOP sling. It offers all the benefits of the other 3-point slings, in addition to being able to instantly adjust for off-side cornering without unslinging. |

I would like to say thanks for everyone replying and I am too trying to learn about the difference in slings. Let me first begin with what I will be utilizing at an upcoming school. An M4gery that has a sling swivel on a LaRue 7.0 rail along with a Bushmaster rear receiver plate so I will not be using the collapsible Crane buttstock as a sling attachment location. In the school we will be doing all sorts of carbine to pistol transitions, CQB, etc. I myself like to shoot prone and standing when messing around. So, I guess you could say I'm looking for an all-around sling. I would like to get your opinions as to what sling to obtain as I too, do not want to spend money like crazy. If a dealer responds to this and would like to offer a sling for t and e it could be a benefit for them to get their product out. The department for which I work for already has (10) AR's, (2) M-4's and (2) Colt Commando's on the way. All of them are in need slings. I did send an email to http://www.spectergear.com/ and ask them for their recommendations. There was a little misunderstanding from the person that responded from them and I am waiting for a reply. The person thought I had a full length AR. Their reply: "No worries, We will be more than happy to assist you in this matter. The sling that we would like to recommend will be the CST sling #201(color) w/ERB. The Cross Shoulder Transition sling comes equipped with the Transition Release Buckle (TRB) allowing you to transition from your strong side to your off side. The sling is manufactured with a heavy duty 1.25" wide nylon webbing which is durable, yet comfortable, and doesn't abrade the skin or generate a noise signature." Now guys, what's your take on this? |

I would contact Jason of www.gearsector.com/, his sling is what I use, and it is in use by MIL and LE guys, as well as trainers all over. Do a request for T&E with him. |
