Hey guys just put together my 9mm and of course it's running like a pos here.

Stag Lower
RRA 16" flat top upper + 9mm hammer.
RRA 6 position stock + 9mm buffer
Vy-Tech mag block
25 round Uzi mag
Winchester White box 9mm, 115 gr. full metal jacket.

Ok, well shit. What happens is I can cycle the first round in fine. After I fire one shot, the next round gets jammed, its been jammed facing up and downward.

Any ideas whats causing this? It looks a hella long way from the Vy-Tech mag block to the chamber of the RRA upper.

Edit: taking some pics now to see if I can show whats happening.
thanks for any help.

Here is a picture of what happens after I put a single round in it and fire.

There is no mag in the gun, a single round is fired and the bolt ends up staying half way open and sometimes the casing isn't ejected. The mag block is NOT in the gun though.

The same jam situation happens even with a mag and mag block in the rifle.

Hmmph, so it would seem that for some reason after the round is fired the bolt is not coming all the way forward for some reason and sometimes the casing is not ejected either.

Any help would be appreciated thanks guys.

Update for those that care. I ran a number of tests with the Stag lower, all failed.

I just ran it with a Bushmaster lower and the bastard worked flawlessly. I ran two 25 round mags through it with no problems. Going to run out and try the Bushmaster upper + Stag lower after I change hammers.

The tests I ran with a Stag lower.

The slide is rather hard to pull back with both the CAR stock on and the A2 stock. It feels like it’s hitting the RRA’s 9mm hammer. I don’t know if that’s normal? It seems to have to push the hammer down to slide back.

Original config was:

RRA flat top 9mm upper from Eagle

RRA 6 position stock + included spring

RRA 9mm hammer

RRA 9mm buffer

Stag Lower

Vy-Tech Mag Block

25 Round Uzi mag

WWB 9mm 115 gr fmj ammo

Initial Firing.

Single round in chamber – Bolt jams half way, shell most times not ejected.

Mag in rifle – Bolt jams half way, sometimes shells ejected but next round jammed and not in chamber.

Test #1

Tests with A2 stock on (no space or buffer used)

Single round – I put a single round in the chamber, fire it and the shell is ejected now. Bolt stuck back half way. Tried it 5 times.

Magazine in the gun. – Round fires, shell is ejected but next round not in chamber and bolt stuck half way.

Test #2

Tests with A2 stock and spacer used.

Spacer in but I cannot pull the bolt back all the way, no test.

I have been running the same exact setuop as you with a Bushmaster lower for ove a year with no problems. I just switched to an ASA mag block... still no problems.

Remove the buffer and spring from the STAG.. leave the tube and stock in place.

Remove the hammer also.

Install  the 9mm upper assembly, keeping muzzle down while installing (gravity hold bolt forward),  once the upper is pinned on,  rotate the rifle so the butt is down, and see if the bolt freely slides to the rear till the key stops the travel....

Had to step away and do it to mine so I could make sure I wasn't goofy ....   The bolt should freely slide rearward till it hits the key to charge handle (clunk), face of bolt body be 1 - 1 1/4 behind rear of eject port.

From the way you describe, it sounds like the buffer tube is not true in line with the bore in the upper, and the Bushmaster is in spec.... the bolt is dragging inside of the buffer tube/buffer tube a few degree of angle (not square to bore for upper)?

Thanks for all the help SBR7_11.

I finally got the bloody thing to work, I had a couple of problems going on (most of it was my building error sigh)

My extractor also has the tiny rolled up pin type, only 1/2" long. Should I replace that with the two prong longer type? I thought I remembered you telling someone else to do that also in another thread.

I've run 2 full 25 round mags through the Stag now and I'm hella happy. Only I'm deaf! I was so used to the Stag not working that I didn't bring ear protection last time. But I was so happy I couldn't stop firing hehe.

Lose that rolled up thing,  go to the hardware or auto-parts and get a longer  "split type"  roll pin.

Get one that has a dry black-blue  finish, not one of the silver-chrome looking ones.  I think the black-blue ones are harder.  You want it to be almost  as long as the hole, so it is supported on both ends, and extractor held in the middle of the pin.

What happen, did that rolled up thing fall out and bind the works?

I will do just that thanks. The pin is so small it doesn't even fill the hole properly.

Well it's embarressing but what happened was either I forgot to put 1 tiny spring in the trigger mechanism or it fell it. After it worked on the Bushmaster and I went through the Stag lower completely and noticed a missing spring. Basicaly the result of that spring missing for some reason made it a single shot rifle ARG!
