| So, I started with a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44mm scope on my Remington 700, but I would like to upgrade it now. I like Vortex, but their Viper HS and PST scopes don't have the elevation and windage adjustment range that I would like, so I am looking at Leupold mainly and SWFA SS 3-15x scope that just came out. I like the Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x40mm 30mm tube Fine Duplex scope a lot. It has the adjustment range that I'm looking for and I like the VX-3 glass, but it's a bit pricey. The new SWFA SS 3-15 has a milling reticle and plenty of adjustment as well, but it is based on the original SS series so it doesn't have the HD glass. Price on both is about the same. What do you guys think I should go with? |

I would look at the Bushnell ERS 3.5x21. It has 10mil turrets, zero stop, first focal plane, HDMR reticle, a great magnification range and excellent reviews. If I couldn't afford the Bushnell, the 3-15X SS appears to be a good value. I have the SS 10X and the turrets are somewhat mushy. I've heard the 3-15X has better turrets. |

Thanks, I'll definitely check the Bushnell. |

Do you have a 20-30MOA scope base on your rifle? How much windage adjustment do you need? This is what I was getting at. With a 20 MOA base it opens up your options to really all of the high quality optics available today. ETA: The Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 EMDR is a steal at 700 bucks. |

IMO, the .308 is a 600yd caliber. If you want to lob it out to 1k get the scope with the most elevation or a 300winmag. Thanks for the advice. I disagree that the 308 is a 600 yard caliber. The 223 will go out to 600 yards and the military often uses the 308 for 1000 yard+ shots. I do agree that one would need a lot of scope elevation to reach 100 yards, which is why that is a main determinant in my choice. |

I think they come with 20 moa elevation. |
