Alright, alright, police your area, and your mind!
I'm looking for suggestions as to which light/mount will work for my situation. I've got an SBR with 11.5" CMMG Piston upper, Magpul MOE carbine handguard, AAC Blackout FH/mount and AAC M4-2000 suppressor. The gas block has 1913 rail on its lower side, 1.85" to be exact. This would seem to be a good place to mount a light so that it would not interfere with barricade left or right shooting, using a remote wired switch to activate the light. Problem: There is only .25" space between the back of the rail and the MOE handguard (total 2.1" front of rail to handguard). Further complicating this is the center rail bar is not there. Instead of the normal complement of 5 bars for 1.85" of rail, there is 2 front bars and 2 back bars with a 1.5" gap in the middle. Therefore, whatever mount I try will have to secure in the forward or rearmost groove, and allow the light and switchplug to clear the handguard. Most lights I see that offer a remote switch look like they would contact the handguard. I realize I could use an offset mount, but that defeats the utility of the built-in rail. Then again, the gas block may be a horrible place to mount a weaponlight. My back-up plan is to use the Magpul cantilever rail on the left side of the MOE guard and an Inforce WML 200 lumen momentary light. Anyone who has a solution or suggestion, please post up, it will be appreciated. I wish I could put a photo of said upper in here, but my kids haven't taught me yet.
