| I thought Colt had made a 14.5" upper without the M203 cut outs (straight barrel from the FSB forward). Am I correct on this, or am I thinking of a different manufacturer? I am not looking for a lightweight barrel. If so, what would be the model number? |

They used to, for older (pre-M4) carbines. The barrels may not have been considered LW back then, but they were by today's standard. I used a DD LW barrel in my 653 clone.
Try Retro Black Rifle; fantastic reference. |

Colt's production 14.5" barrels have all been M203 compatible, meaning they were either "lightweight" profile with .625 diameters, or .750 diameter with M203 cuts in the barrel.
They have made prototypes with 14.5" barrels with no M203 notch and a .750 diameter, but no production barrels in that profile. I think Bushmaster has or had an HBAR that was 14.5" and .750 forward of the FSB, but I don't think I can think of any manufactuerer that's produced a non-M203 cut barrel in 14.5" in government profile. ~Augee |
