Finally decided on the Aimpoint CompML3 for my SOCOM16.  Now, what do I need to mount it correctly?  Will this work:

Please help.  Comments...suggestions.

Yes that will work great for the socom. You could not find a better mount.

THE LARUE LT152 MOUNT WOULD WORK GREAT ON THE SOCOM ...IF THE SOCOM HAD A MILSPEC RAIL!

... WHICH IT DOES NOT. THE RAIL ON THE SOCOM IS A "WEAVER" TYPE, AND THE LARUE MOUNTS DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH ADJUSTMENT TO ACCOMODATE THIS NON-MILSPEC FORMAT.

YOUR BEST BET FOR YOUR APPLICATION IS AN AIMPOINT BRAND EXTRA WIDE, LOW RING MOUNT FOR A WEAVER RAIL, $38 DELIVERED FEDEX AIR.

SORRY TO BE THE BEARER OF NEWS YOU CAN'T USE A LARUE MOUNT.

Seems like I saw a pic of a Socom with one of these on it...?

Anybody remember what thread that was?

SOME S/A SOCOMS MAY HAVE BEEN SUBSEQUENTLY MANUFACTURED WITH A MIL-STD 1913 RAIL. MINE WAS NOT, NOR WERE A LOT OF OTHERS.

OF COURSE, A PICTURE ALONE DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THE MOUNT WAS A GOOD FIT TO THE RAIL.

Ah I see what your saying. Well I say pull out the file and fix that rail if you have a problem. But if the rail is not wide enough like Wes says then you may be sol.

The LaRue mount is still the best mount you could hope to get. Remember with the socom you will need to remove the aimpoint if it ever stops working in order to use your irons.

If you end up with a low Aimpoint mount, make sure and use some kind of long screw with a curled nut at the end. That way you can use your hand to remove it, instead of trying to find a tool.
