I have a flat top Rock River with surefire rails...I currently have flip up front and rear irons and a Bushnell Hollosight.  I am wanting to add magnification, but can't afford an acog or aimpoint with magnifier setup.  I would like to keep the bushnell in place, for quick close up aiming, but as I was saying i would like to add about a 3x or so zoom.  Do they make a mount that will set the scope off to the side, so it is either usable from there, or able to be moved into place and still keep it's zero.  Also, what are some good valued scopes, that won't cost me more than my rifle is worth, but are still tough?

Within the stated monetary limits (can't afford aimpoint), you can't make a decent solution that does it all.  You might be able to make a really crappy solution with one of those multi-rail-thingies (there are 3-rail items that go on your AR's upper receiver rail /shudder), and sticking a cheap NcStar scope on rings on the side mount and the holosight on the top or something (and seeing the irons through the center of the 3-rail thingy.

If you think you're going to need magnification at all on the rifle, I would recommend you ditch the bushnell and save up for an appropriate optic that can do the job (ACOG, or some other low-mag tactical scope like perhaps the Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T 1-3x scope, depending on budget and preferences).

Thanks for the input...   I was kind of afraid that I would not be able to do anything of any quality keeping the bushnell.

Next question then:  I have little knowledge of the aimpoints....are they a holosight "type" (used extemely loosely) sight, where you look through and it is no magnification with an illuminated sight?  And if you buy the magnifyer, you look through it and see your normal aimpoint sight but with 3x magnification correct?

What is the main difference between the Aimpoint ML2 and ML3?

Where is the cheapest place to buy a new one, or does anyone have a used one they wanna trade for a Bushnell Holosight?

I don't know much about the Aimpoint (I'm an EOthingy fan, which is basically just like your bushnell and doesn't yet have a magnification option), but I'm sure someone else will chime in with all the details sooner or later.
