| I just bought my first AR-15, so Im new to the world of tactical firearms. I mostly just use it for range shooting but I want to mount a flashlight on it for varmint hunting. I need something that has a long battery life, can reach out pretty far, and that isn't too expensive because Im on a tight budget. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. |

check out the pentagon lights... i have an MS3R on my M4... MS3R is 9v, 135 lumens, great throw, tape switch... around half the price of the surefire... if you aren't a big fan of the tape switch, the stealth assault lights are also very nice, they use larue mounts and a click switch tailcap... get in touch with user brightflashlights... he is very knowlegable and helpful when it comes to selecting which weaponlight is right for your needs AND his prices are awesome good luck. |
| Surefire makes the best products in the biz, but their success has gone to their heads and they no longer value the end-user's opinions. They believe that they know what the customer wants and cannot be convinced otherwise. Because of this and the fact that they charge outrageously high prices is causing them to lose market share to Streamlight/Insight. Pentagon and Gladius are also catching up fast. I still buy SF, but I did, recently, purchase my first Insight light. |

Check out www.candlepowerforums.com and you can find some fairly inexpensive options for lights with some recommendations in the different forums. For instance you can get a Pelican M6 LED 2390 with a mount and remote switch for around $125-130, for a bout $30 less you can get the next model down with is only about 20% less "bright". Also, if you are not using it for life or death situations, check out a Ultrafire C2 from qualitychinagoods.com, it is a $30 light with plenty of brightness. Not sure if it has a remote switch or not. I personally found a Pelican AR-15 mount and 2 pressure remote switches at a salvage store for $12 NIB. Waiting for the Ultrafire C2 to arrive to see if by chance the switches (tail caps with remotes on them) will fit. If not I will buy the Pelican 2390 light. For my purposes that is all I need. Word of caution, if you purchase a CR123 light. Make sure that the voltages are similar to one another if using two or more. |
