I'm building a carbine that has a Daniel Defense barrel, 14.5" light weight, 0.625" gas block with carbine length gas system.

I have a VLTOR low profile, clamp on (not set screw) gas block for 0.625"

I'm wanting to use a MI Gen II SS series free float tube, and have it extend beyond the gas block.

Questions:
1.) Will the rail clear the gas block?
2.) What length do you suggest? (10" or 12")
3.) Does anywhere have such a tube in stock?

Thanks in advance,

I personally like the longer tubes.  Just gives me the most options with very little added weight.

As far as the gas block goes, I have heard that they may not fit under a DD Lite, but I would think one of the tube rails would have much more room

I can't help much, but I have a 14.5" barrel and an 11" inch rail.

I thought it may help you visualize what each would look like length-wise

I like this 11" rail, but I would like to put a 12" Centurion Arms rail on my next 14.5

I use a Daniel Defense Omega 7.0. Solid, well, built, and easy to install. Requires no modification to the host weapon delta ring. The are also available in mid-length and rifle length, depending on your needs. I don't know if it will fit under a low-pro gas block...if not, look into the LaRue rails.

This, although if you want the rail to cover your low-pro, you may want to go with the omega 9.0, it's middie length. I just switched to the DD Omega 7.0 from a Surefire M73. It's lighter, free float, and narrower side-to-side. Mounting to the factory barrel nut was a big selling point too.

I'm trying to stick with a handguard with permanent rails only at the 12:00 position...  hence the MI SS Gen II

I went with the daniel defense modular float rail 12.0... used a BCM low profile gas block. it is a mid length gas system  LW 14.5in barrel. Everything fit great here is a pic. As of a week ago Brownells had it in stock.
