I have an upper which has a generic knurled (not fluted) aluminum float tube.

When I got it, it was easy to unscrew.  In fact I got tired of tightening it, so I put some blue loc-tite on the threads.

Now I want to take it off, but I can't remember if it has regular or reverse threads.

FWIW, I plan to put the upper in an action block and use a strap wrench, and a propane torch if necessary.

It would be nice if I knew which way to turn it.

Well I suspect anything is possible, BUT every tube I've seen has standard right hand threads.

Blue Loctite? Try your strap wrench, action block, and a strong amount of elbow grease without the heat. You should be able to break it loose without heat.

Mission accomplished.  Thanks.

FWIW it was standard right-hand threads.

It was cold, so I used a heat-gun to loosen the Loc-Tite.... alot less drastic than a torch.
