I've been buying barrels on the cheap side and I've had good luck with them so, I keep buying. (No feeding, headspace, fit, finish, or accuracy issues so far)

These are basic chrome moly barrels- no nitride, melonite, or chrome lining.

Anyway, the barrel on the left came from Spinta Precision. The barrel on the right came from MAS Defense. I was a bit surprised at how

similar the numbers were milled out, positioned, etc... I see these barrels with this type of marking all over the net, ebay, and from several AR parts vendors.

When I asked one re-seller about who is actually making these barrels they politely said that they are not allowed to disclose that information.

Who is pumping out all of these barrels? Googling the numbers did me no good so I'm asking here just because I'm curious about such things.

Details: Left barrel is a Spinta Precision 16" 1:7 5.56 contour 75$. Right barrel is a MAS Defense 10.5" HBAR 1:7 .223 Wylde 75$

Can I bump my own thread?

Nobody responded so I did a bit more research and my best guess is Bear Creek Arsenal. I know, I know, formerly Moore Machine Co. who, from what I have read built some crappy rifles and then re-appeared as Bear Creek Arsenal.

I have not read anything negative about Bear Creek so I guess they should be given the benefit of the doubt and be allowed to try to redeem themselves. I dunno but I sure like their barrels.

I have a stainless 10.5 that is stamped the same way. I was told it was built by ESS. Was it? I dunno? I have started carrying a bolt and gauges before I buy it.

To me it's a barrel, the headspace was good, and it shoots pretty good. That's enough for me. Oh yeah, it was only $50

I guess it's possible that there are several contractors using the same method to mark their barrels so maybe it was built by ESS. Or.....built for ESS by a contractor.

I appears that this is very common. I know that FN makes some of PSA's barrels because they explicitly say so, but other barrels sold by PSA...uh...not so clear who makes them.
