I m new with AR's all together, I just gor a RRA entry tactical, will pick up on Tuesday and after spending almost a grand on it will not have much left for a red dot so I been looking and found a Bushnell red dot 4 reticle for abot $90.00 my question is does it mount on top of the carry handle or will you remove the carry handle?? and if I remove the carry handle I will need to raise the red dot what do I use to move up?? , sorry but I feel a little lost!!!

Contrary to what you may hear, that's not too bad a sight to use to "get used to the idea" of using a dot sight. Mainly though, you really should worry about getting good with the irons. What kind of shooting will you be doing with the rifle? if it's mainly going to be used for plinking and such, I'd simply get a QD carry handle mount, such as an ARMS #2. That way, you can practice with the irons, and then quickly switch over to the dot sight (or vice-versa) whenever you feel like it. After you have had the rifle awhile, you will sort of figure out exactly what you want it to do for you, and then you can step up in level (not to mention price ) as far as sights, mounts, and the other hundred little add-ons you just KNOW you're gonna want go.

Congrats on the AR purchase!

My condolensces on your future lack of money from buying AR stuff. It happens to all of us.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!

or if you do, never never never borrow a friends EoTech

i bought the Bushnell Trophy multi-reticle red dot because i HATED the way Eo's looked and i don't like to be like everyonelse.  i put it on my rifle, then asked my bud if i could borrow his Eo, for comparison.  THERE IS NO COMPARISON.

my Bushnell is in the box ready to be shipped back and my new EO is on my rifle and i'm not even thinking about the extra change or the look of it.

trust me, i'm CHEAP.  if the Bushnell "cut it" it would have stayed, it doesn't.  then again, in all fairness, this is a patrol rifle not a toy (i don't know what your needs are).

the Bushnell is about 100 bux, the Eo i got was 295, a difference you won't even remember after six months.

dude, you said you dropped a G on your rifle, why stop now

sorry, i ranted about the optic and never really answered your Q's.

simple way is to remove your carry handle.  the optic comes with rings that will fit your rail.  they are NOT quick detach, though.  if you wanted to raise it, this could be done with a "riser" and at the same time  cure your quick detach problem - get a riser with a throw lever.  what this means is you'll have a quickly detachable rail that looks like the top of your receiver that your Bushnell (and rings) are permanently mounted to.  you'd take off your carry handle and replace it with the rail/optic combo.

get it?

btw- if you're in West Central FL, you could see mine in person, then buy it.

If the Bushnell is a one inch tube, with low rings, it will likely fit on top of the tactical carry handle, and you will be able to co-witness with the iron sights in the lower third of the optic window.  I believe the Aimpoint sight is the one that was originally meant to be on top of the tac handle, but I don't know what mount was to be used.

there all over.  just google search for "ar15 parts", then look around on the various sites that come up.

here's one, but i'd probably check out something from www.gggaz.com, instead
