This is the first ar15 i am going to build. I was hoping you guys could tell me if i was missing any essential parts or if there is anything you would recommend i change. I will be adding the chrome lining to the barrel www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assembly_p/dt1014.htm www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Buttstock_p/bs1053.htm www.del-ton.com/Stag_Arms_Lower_Receiver_p/lr1004.htm |
What's stamped on your barrel? An example "C MP 5.56", etc. The AR shoots .223 & 5.56. Most standard AR's these days are chambered for 5.56. You can shoot .223 out of an AR chambered for 5.56, but you should not shoot 5.56 out of an AR chambered for .223. You should make sure what your particular AR is chambered in before you shoot. |
223 and 5.56 are basicly the same except for the pressures at which they are loaded. MOST ar's are either 5.56 or Wylde chambered and will use either round. The place you may find trouble is in rifles designed to shoot 223........mostlt bolt or "hunting" style semi autos. These rifles may not be able to handle the extra pressures of 5.56 (military type) ammo pressures. I am pretty sure that the Del-ton uppers are 5.56 so you can shoot either 223 or 5.56 without worry. Edit: Oops, Warpig got in while i was typing. |

I would get the stock somewhere else. $70 for a no-namebrand 6-pos M4 stock is steep. Everything else looks great to me. You'll need a CAR stock wrench to put the stock nut on. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=125&t=263404 Derek is the man. He has stocks out the wazoo, ships ultra-fast, and can kick in a wrench for $2.50 (half the price everywhere else) to boot. Del-ton is awesome, but they're out there on the stock prices. Oh yeah, you'll want to order the lower and upper separately (both Del-ton, but two orders). If you buy them together, you have to pay an extra tax on a whole rifle (at least that's what I was told). |
