Noob here (not to guns just to the site).

Removed a YHM quad-rail (sold it already) and cut off the delta ring in preparation for a Troy MRF-C which I purchased through EE (the deal didn't happen, nobody at fault). So am now in need of a quad rail, been thinking the MRF-C may not be the the best option. The sight base and gas tube are still in place, was thinking about removing the sight base since I have back up sights and an Eotech. I've seen some rail systems where the barrel needs removed, I don't have the tools to do this. Is the MRF-C my only option now? If I leave the FSB on and get a hold of a MRF-C how does that connect with the hand guard cap?

Just looking for ideas.

Thanks.

Since you already cut off the Delta ring. You must have a Dremel, or something similar, Why don't you just cut off the top half of the FSB , above the gas rod. Profile it. Paint, or blue it. Then you can put any kind of hand guard that clamps on a standard barrel nut. Just get one that is longer than the FSB, so it looks better. Then drop on your front BUIS.

Good idea. What other quad rails other than the MRF-C are made to clamp on the barrel nut? Doesn't have to be Troy.

There are a lot of them, you will just have to look, check Rainiers. I don't really like Quad rails. I like the round ones, that you can put rails where you want them. I have Apex hand guards, on all of my FF guns.

If you're not dead set on a quad rail, check out the troy alpha rail. I originally thought I wanted a quad rail but now I have a 13" alpha rail in FDE on the way

Old lady has one of these on her AR, really well made and lightweight, but you will have to setup the rail sections...
