Im looking for a more compact scope that has decent magnification that is similar in size to the Nightforce 2.5-10x24 or 2.5-10x32, but within my price range for $200.
Thanks. |

I've decided against 4x, i need MOAR! try and pick a nice like new trijicon accupoint tr20....3-9x40. If you look on here and on GB/fleebay you should be able to find one for ard. $450-500 and that will prob. be a new one. http://images1.opticsplanet.com/750-500-ffffff/opplanet-trijicon-accupoint-riflescope-tr20-02.jpg At $200 you can def. find a quality piece of glass w. some mag. however you start to pay to make it compact....Burris offers some nice priced options in some tactical configs. The fullfield TAC30 3-9x40 is on sale for $319 at opticsplanet. http://images1.opticsplanet.com/750-500-ffffff/opplanet-burris-fullfield-tac30-3x-9x-40mm-tactical-riflescope.jpg Thanks for the reply. What do you guys know about sightmark.Maybe they got me with their nice website, but they do offer a lifetime warranty. I was looking at THIS scope, its a whole 1x more of magnification, but its also $80 less then the millett. I just saw a post of a guy shooting <1.5MOA groups witha 4x scope so maybe 4x isnt so bad. Now i can buy this from sportsmansguide and if it ever breaks sportmansguide will give me my money back since they did that with a $50 10 month old chinese POS. Only downsides i can see is no locking turrents, and only 15 MOA adjustment each way but this is for plinking at 100 yards. |

I was checking sightmark out at area51tactical.com who are nice folks and they are actually IIrc a actual sightmark dealer and thus they match anybodies price.....however, they have an outstanding price as is on it....just not in stock, but as mentioned since they are a dealer i imagine they will be gtg soon. $129.00 seems to be a real nice price for the features and such..i will say the diff. b/t 4x and 5x on paper @100yds will not be really noticeable persay, Sightmark glass |

Now im split between the sightmark and a CenterPoint scope. I just found this.... Centerpoint Power Class 3-12x44mm, but only 10" in length. Its comes out to $130 with free shipping after 15% off at Dick's. I know centerpoint isnt the best but my father has the $70 walmart version and its decent, this one is their next line up in the "quality scale". God Dammit i suck at making decision because i cannot make one! I like the look and size of the sightmark and millett, but i like the function of the centerpoint. I have a LaRue QD mount so im only going to have it on my AR at the range. I think im just going to have to leave it to the flip of a coin or a GD poll |

I think im just going to have to leave it to the flip of a coin or a GD poll I put a ton those $ 40 and 50 centerpoint AR series scopes on various .22 builds over the last few yrs......Perfect for ruger 10/22s.....not so much for AR-15s. I would def. go with sightmark over centerpoint even though i really have no ill complaints on the centerpoints other than the "illumination".....Leaks HEAVY. I would go with Millet flat out b/t centerpoint, sightmark and millett......millett actual makes one of the very best budget optics out there......and many diehard 10/22 tack drivers utilize the higher mag models. |

I was hoping that the Power Class serious of the Centerpoints would be better but you cant find a thing on them on the internet. The power class is more "tactical" it has a side parrallax adjustment nob and no illumination. Its originally a $180 scope, but i found a crap load of coupons for one website. But i am really looking towards the millet and sightmark. I love magnification but im hoping i will make up for 4-5x with the precision build im getting funds together for. For that one im looking at the Millet TRS-1 or LRS-1 |

I did and could not be more pleased. |

Not like a nightforce, but has gotten very good reviews, and im counting my pennies trying to afford a $800 precision upper, let alone a $1,200+ scope. The scope im looking for in this thread is for plinking only at 100 yards. I have a QD mount and it will only be on my rifle at the range. |

I've got a suggestion that might be right up your alley. Look at the Konus M30 1.5-6x44. It has locking turrets, blue illumination, and very nice glass. It runs around $275, but if you look I've seen them a little cheaper. I haven't seen many reviews on it in particular, but the others in the M30 line seem like very decent optics for the price. It would be a very noticeable step up in quality from a CenterPoint or Sightmark. The larger objective would provide excellent low light sighting capabilities too.
When you start on your precision rig, there is something you need to know about the LRS... Its FREAKING HUGE! Its not bad but with a 24x top end and 140 moa of elevation, it really belongs on a .300 mag or larger. I have a TRS on an AR w/24" hbar and I love it. I think I'm going to get another when the Savage Fairy brings me a .308. I love the "Nightforce or nutin" comments. We all know how great they are, but unless you are a military or LE sniper, chances are that your money would be better spent on an optic you can reasonably afford and more ammo. Good glass and repeatabllity are necessary, the absolute best glass and tank like durability aren't. It would be nice to have though, but ammo for practice will do more for a budget shooter than any piece of high end equipment.

Alright i did was i always do... go agaisnt what everyone says...
I saw the centerpoint at the local Dick's store, and its nothing like the walmart centerpoints. Its of significantly higher quality. I couldnt help myself and got it. Im looking through the scope right now at a house 150-200 yards away at 12x and the surface detail of the bricks is perfectly clear and focused. This is amazingly clear and doesnt get hazy or have a shade of grey at the higher magnification. Its actually very compac too. Mil Dot ranging is fun! Im looking at a house 340 yards away (according to my calculations) and by looking on google maps im correct, and at this distance on 10x, and 12x the bricks are clear as day and sharp as ever, im VERY impressed for the size and price of this scope. |

That is fantastic to hear....Other people's advice is just that, the only thing that mattered is your happy, and you found an optic you feel serves the role you needed well |
