Ok, I've got a new rifle that has never had a trigger installed in it. I purchased a "drop in" timney trigger group and it's not dropping in. I am posting a couple of pictures to show you what I mean. In picture one you can see that the pins would never make it in there. In picture two I could possibly hammer one of the pins in (maybe) but the other one would be so far off as to never go in. I looked at a sticky here regarding installing it, but it sure looks like the holes just line up and you are good to go. Is there something I'm not understanding here?

Remove the grip, then the safety. Try it now.

Try putting the safety selector on safe or pulling the safety out completely.  Don't you have to do things in that order when you build a lower?

you have to remove the saftey selector then install the trigger then reinstall the saftey selector BEFORE you put the pins in

Safety was removed, grip is removed. I'm in the installation phase and it says to put the safety back in at this point.

putting the safety on "safe" makes matters worse because...well there is a slot in the safety that allows for installation in the fire position

and just checked, I can remove the safety and it made no difference. Holes do not line up ....

Yes, that's what the pictures show....I removed the safety, dropped the trigger group in then reinstalled the safety. the holes will not line up

can you line the hole up before you re-install the safety?

Nope, they are off by a bunch and I'm leery about hammering those pins in because the thread shows they push in by hand

OMG. Problem solved.....jeeeez, this unit has been messed with. There are two screws that you tighten down after you install it. SOMEONE tightened one all the way down and it was screwing it all up.

Appreciate you all taking the time thinking about it!

I was going to ask if the screws were in the up position, but thought that was too easy.  Glad you got your Timney installed.  Happy shooting...

Oh trust me, nothing is "too easy" for me lol. I got it all done now and it looks like this, safety works and everything. I didn't install those top set screws because that was the biggest PITA trying to move the spring out of the way and place those suckers in there, IF it gets loose I'll just tighten it up.

Yeah you need to slide the ends of the spings to the center. Then you can get the allen wrench in there to tighten them up.

Yeah, I got that part and tightened them, however you are supposed to put some "caps" on the top....that's the part that I found impossible with only two hands. Then trying to guide them down there....well, like I said, if it gets loose I'll retighten them, they are supposed to be used so the pins don't fall out. Well if you look at the picture I went ahead and got screw in anti-walk pins. I really don't think the pins will fall out.

Glad you got the problem solved.  As far as the 1/8" screws that go on top of the primary screws it is akinda PITA when the trigger is in battery, but if the hammer is up the spring is "unloaded" and you can set the screws in place.
