Mine that I actually started in 1996 as a Bushmaster A2 16" HBAR with an A2 stock.  It always being 'tweaked' by me.

Pic of my M4gery in 2003.  KKF did a M4gery job on the barrel cutting it down to 14.5" and adding a perm. attached A3 Tac-Brake.

Pic of the same M4gery today.  J&T M4 postban stock, Ambi Ergo grip, YHM 2pc railed handguards, KAC forward grip and rail covers, EoTech 552, ARMS #40 flip up rear.  Ambi single point sling.  PRI fatboy gas tube, PRI gas buster charging handle.  After the sunset it'll have a LMT flat top upper with a 16" DPMS chrome-lined barrel with the required evil bayonet lug and A2 FS and a Crane type stock.

LRT does good work I highly recommend him!

If you don't have a preban lower receiver, wait til the AWB ends.  You need to figure out what parts, pieces and look you are going for.  Here is a pic of one I built yesterday for a friend based off his Oly Stopsign (preban  lower).

Great rifles!  Mine is a work in progress, hopefully I will have a couple pics soon.

NamVet, you can pretty much do whatever you want, you can buy complete lowers with the M4 style stocks, and also there are a variety of top end configurations for sale as well.  Or, you can go the custom route and select all of the individual parts, options, and accessories, which will probably give you the most satisfaction and that one of a kind, unique rifle.

Mine started out as an ArmaLite M15A4, which I added the fixed M4 stock in green.  Then, installed a 16"chrome-lined A2 barrel, ArmaLite 1913 ALOSTYR handguards, and flip up rear sight.  I'm waiting on an optic and front grip.
