| Nevermind. People can't just answer a question around here. Everything has to be a "I'm better than you" lecture. |

Just wondering what you guys are happy with at the range as far as group size at 200 yards. Here's one from a range trip a few weeks ago: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3412/3412747616_cccdf306db_o.jpg This was with hand loads through a LaRue 18" upper with a Bushnell 10x scope. This was before I had my trigger worked on, so the groups should get better next time. Dude, that's not a "group", that's a "coincidence." |

Where is the rest of the group? 3 rounds is not a group. 5 rounds is a group and 10 rounds gives a better overall idea of what the rifle and load are capable of. +1 To give yourself an HONEST idea of what you and your rifle can do you need at the very minimum 5-shots. And I don't mean your best "5 out of ???". A rig like that should be able to shoot sub MOA with the correct load in the right conditions so your results may not be far off. But we'll never know until you shot a real group. |

So science is BS? I see you'll fit in well in the Brave New World. |

What I meant was that even in the technical sections there are people talking out their asses about things they know nothing about. Not necessarily in this thread, but it happens. Seems like the OP had bad experiences in the past too.
The OP gave up after a few posts...had he waited, and read what posters had to say he might realize the point people are trying to make about groups. I'm not calling BS on science. |

Only one really answered your question specifically, and another gave you a general answer. Just love it! Seems like it happens in a lot of threads here. What part of PA are you in? |

I'm going to the range tomorrow. I'll shoot some 5 and 10 shot groups. We are supposed to have 20-25mph winds, though. That's the spirit! Yeah, the wind won't help though. I hate the weather around here lately. Here's what 5 shots at 100 yards looks like, though. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3022/3108339696_6e1bc82824_o.jpg Very nice shootin buddy!!!!

Pro2AinPA,
Don't let these guys bother you. There is such a thing as a 3 shot group, but I do agree that a 5 shot group is a better indication of what your rifle can do. But to claim there is no merit at all in a 3 shot group just shows how limited some are in the brain pan. I give you extra credit for ACTUALLY SHOOTING YOUR AR. Too many around here only know how to shoot their mouth...and do a poor job of that. |
| Hey, the guy aimed at the square at 200 yards. He hit all three inside the square. To me that's pretty good. So why is everyone being so nasty to the guy. Sure it would be more impressive if it was a 5, 10 or 30 round group. But, saying that it is a coincidnence is a pretty sh?tty thing to say. He hit the target he was aiming at. Good job. Keep shooting. |
