Just got back from the range. Here are a couple of pics comparing the Olight PL Turbo (800 L, 66k C) w/the HL-X Pro (1,000 L, 50k C). Similar (but not identical) performance, the Olight's greenish tint is apparent when comparing them side-by-side.
Sorry for the poor quality of the FruitPhone pics, spousal unit took the pics while I aimed. You can easily make out the 50yd target slightly to the right and the 100yd target centered in the beam. It was more easily visible in-person, but the 200yd target stand was slightly easier to see w/the Olight than the HL-X Pro but either could engage a sufficiently contrasted target at that range. More apparent was the greater spill & situational awareness from the HL-X Pro. Both are fairly well balanced between throw & spill, but I prefer the slightly greater spill & less throw of the HL-X Pro. ETA: Did 60rds at both 50 & 100yds, the HL-X Pro does a good job of burning through gunpowder-induced glare. Olight: Attached File Streamlight: Attached File |

The lower edge of the picatinny rail and the upper edge of the bottom rail panel form a channel that perfectly fits the Streamlight remote switch. You can either slide the switch into the channel from the front or place the switch first then slide on the bottom rail panel. The Arisaka light mount prevents fore/aft movement of the switch (or would if there were any room for the switch to move fore/aft, it's a perfect fit) but in an earlier experiment with the standard Streamlight remote switch (ie: shorter w/no constant-on) I discovered a small piece of Velcro (one side only) applied in the channel provided a friction-fit that prevented movement of the switch. |

Finally had time to tinker and get mine set up with Shaffer switch mounts and am super happy with the way it turned out. Light output on these are awesome too. Only thing better would be TLR 1 HLs next in line to have 50k candela.

As I mentioned earlier in this post, I had the same issue. Ended up the switch was the problem, not the tailcap. I called Streamlight customer service, left a message, and got a call back in probably 30 minutes or less.
Told the guy I was tempted to tap it with a hammer to see if it seated, but was afraid I would break it. His words were knock the fuck out of it, if it doesn't work, I'll send you another. He gave me his direct phone number and email before hanging up. BFH method didn't work. I emailed him. I got tracking information a couple hours later. Was at my door two days later. They went over and above. Never had to use their customer service before. They were definitely on it. The replacement switches do have a much more solid lockup than my original. They don't have as solid lockup and any Unity/Surefire switches I've used. Also keep in mind these entire light kits with light, switches, mounts, batteries, etc. cost less than most Unity switches. |

I ended up using a small flat head screwdriver to coax the edge on one side of the switch rail section outward and over the picatinny rail. I would attach both switch rail sections where desired, slide the switch into 3 of the 4 switch rail section corners then use the small flat head screwdriver again to help seat the 4th corner. |

I still haven’t received an email or call back yet. I’m sure they make it right eventually, maybe. I went ahead and ordered the latching switch from Brownells. If I do end up with an extra switch after buying one. Sounds like all the justification I need to buy one of the light only packages and put that extra switch to use. At least that’s what I tell myself when extra parts turn into complete AR builds. |
