Alright, I think I went about this the right way. I have done a fair amount of research on here and after pushing my brain back into my ears I would now like some opinions. I am going to build an AR from the ground up using a higher end forged upper and lower and would like some opinions from operators who have EXPERIENCE with these products (fit, finish, you know,QUALITY!).
Upper / Lower: Mega Arms, Umbrella, Noveske, Seekins, Rainier Arms Barrel: Daniel Defense, BCM, Centurion, Noveske, Rainier Arms I would also like some feedback the B5 SOPMOD stocks. I have read about them sticking and I've read about them being the Holy Grail. I come from a background where rep is everything and any input would be greatly appreciated. |

All of the brands you listed have reputations for excellent quality. Umbrella is still a bit new, however, and doesn't have an established track record the way the others do. B5 stocks are somewhat hit or miss, but mostly hit. If you get a tight one, most folks report that a dowel and some sandpaper will take care of it. If you need a perfect out of the box solution, look at the LMT SOPMOD, or go with a Vltor or Magpul stock. Magpul and Vltor both offer stocks with similar features to the SOPMOD and excellent quality. |
| Thank you. I actually just looked a little closer at the Rainier Arms lower and may be leaning toward a lower that is compatible with one of the 45 degree selectors that are out there. I'm also just a little drive away from B5 in Ohio and may just see if I can schedule and see the things for myself. I had read that they were making some sort of "fixes" to address the sticking issue. |
