Trying to decide on my next weapon purchase.  I've got a few questions.  I'm looking for an AR with a 16" barrell and flat top receiver.  I've narrowed it down to an offering from:

Lewis Machine and Tool USA
LWRCI
Daniel Defense
Patriot Ordnance Factory

Maybe narrowed down was a bit of a stretch.  If anyone has another manufacturer who should be given a look please let me know, I'm not set on any one just yet.

On to a few, possibly newb questions:  Would it be worth my money as a civillian shooter to get a gas piston gun over a regular impingement system.  This isn't a weapon being purchased to be put in front line military service, I do plan on taking several carbine courses however, and using it quite a bit.  I like the idea of the monolithic rail platforms on the LMT, Daniel Defense, and POF offerings, it seems like one solild piece like that would have advantages in strength and accuracy over an independent fore-end?

Any help would be much appreciated.

If I recall, the POF is a piston gun. I've always thought that the gas piston in an AR was a solution in search of a problem. I'm content with my DI AR's. All the choices you listed are fine guns. I'd also consider a Colt 6920, sort of the Gold standard and not anymore expensive than the others. If you really like the monolithic rail platform consider the Colt 6940.

As I said previously I'm not sold on any of the ones listed.  The offerings from LMT, LWRCI, and POF are all piston guns.  I'll admit that I began to drink the Kool-Aid and believed that piston driven guns were the answer, it just seemed like not having hot/dirty gas directed back into the firing mechanism was a good idea.  I have seen reviews where it's stated that piston guns aren't as accurate as the DI guns, and piston guns are heavier.  Also there are obviously more moving parts than in a DI gun.  All of which add up to about an even break I would imagine, the benefit of the DI gun is less cost as well in most cases.

What about offerings from Yankee Hill Machine?  Their weapons look pretty impressive too:
