I recently built this rifle for my son who is Trooper with the 82nd AB, 2/325.  He wanted a general purpose AR that would be accurate and not too heavy. So after a little research this is what we decided on.

Upper Receiver
-WOA stainless steel 18" SPR profile barrel, with a rifle length gas system, 1/7, Wilde chamber, M4 cuts.  WOA matched bolt.
-SEI Vortex FH, PRI gas block/front sight.
-VLTOR billet upper receiver.
-BCM bolt carrier assembly, and charging handle with TacLatch.
-SWS rifle length railed hand guard and Magpul rail covers.
-MFI MAD rear buis.
-Gripod

Lower Receiver
-S&W MP15 lower receiver
-RRA LRPK (smoothed/polished single stage trigger/hammer engagement surfaces).
-TangoDown Battlegrip
-Magpul trigger guard, Ambi selector and KNS pins.
-Magpul UBR stock
-Blue Force simple sling.

Optic
-Weaver  2.5-10x50 Illuminated 30mm scope
-MFI 30mm  rings

The rifle shoots M855 ball under 2" @100meters consistently.  We haven't had a chance to shoot it with a match grade ammo yet, although I think 1 MOA, or under, is likely.  I've had good results with other WOA barrels I've used.

The Weaver scope has surprisingly clear glass and held zero fine through the 300 rounds we fired.  My son couldn't afford more a expensive optic on E4 pay, and dad already spent enough on it.

I didn't weigh it, but it's a little on the heavy side, although it balances well.

Planned future upgrades are a better optic, he likes Trijicon, or maybe a Leupold in a LaRue mount.  The Gripod is being replaced by a GG&G bipod.  And the barrel and receivers coated with Norrells MolyResin in FDE,  while he's deployed to Afganistan.

That's a really well thought out build. I've been toying with the idea of building an upper like that with the WOA barrel, only 16"
A Leupold would go great with that rifle, I have the Mark 4  2.5-8x 36 MR/T M2 (illum) on my Mark 12 Mod 1 SPR

At first, I skimmed through the top part and was thinking "why would a trooper (like police trooper) need 18" barrel, grip pod, and a scope?"

But yeah, for A-stan 18" is a good length and the bipod will probably be handy.

Good luck and come home safe.

JohnnyVain-This rifle won't be going to Afganistan, the Army doesn't allow privately owned weapons on deployments.  It was built purely for stateside fun.

Looks great, I did a very similar build with a Sabre 18 inch middy upper.  I also used the Weaver CE scope, but the 56mm version.

How do you like the scope?  I like mine so much that I bought 4 of them <G>.

He likes the Weaver OK, but wants to upgrade.  For the price that Natchez Shooters Supply was selling them for they can't be beat.  The scope is fairly large and heavy though, and adds substantially to the rifles overall weight.

Let me know if you decide to sell the scope.
