Hi everyone,  This is my first AR-15, I received it on 3-18-09, 16" ARM-4 Chrome Lined, 4150, 1x7 Twist, F Sight Base, M-4 Feed Ramps, Flat Top A-3 Kit with Bolt, Bolt Carrier and Charging handle, It also stated that the barrel was Magnafluxed. I ordered it through AR15-kits.com but was shipped from J & T Distributing. On the packing list From J & T the discription was, 16" DS4 4150 C1 flat Kit. I have not shot it yet but I was cleaning the barrel which I have read that you should do before shooting it. While cleaning it I noticed a large particle or metal burr that would not come out. I used a Bore snake, a brass rod with a brass bore brush and still won't come out. When I ran a patch through it I pulled out what seemed brass shavings from the brass cleaning rod that was scored from that burr. Is this normal, that maybe when breaking in the barrel that would take care of that burr? Also should't have this burr been found when the barrel was Magnafluxed? Again this is my first AR-15, so any thoughts, ideas, or help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

The burr is from them drilling the gas port in the barrel. This is normal it will go away with the first round.

Thank you, I looked up AR-15 gas port on the web and it clearly shows what it is. That is exactly what the burr is. Thanks again
