Just finished assembling a new build. Took it to the range and it did not fire.
If I pull the charge handle back and let it go with no ammo to feed it seems to close all the way. However when I have ammo in the mag for it to pick up, it picks up a round and then does not close all the way, then it is very difficult to get the bolt open again. I swapped out the bolt group with a buddy and his bolt works great in mine. (he didnt want to try mine in his gun) His bolt will pick up rounds and fire them and eject them no problem at all. So I took my bolt carrier apart and found no problems that I could identify. Any Ideas? |

headspace is determined by both your bolt and your barrel assembly. if either are out of spec you can have a problem since your friends bolt worked fine I suggested the bolt is out of spec.
there was just another post about a model 1 bcg breaking in half on relatively low round counts. |

Have them send you a replacement bolt. Brand new stuff should go together and function right out of the box.
If you got a bolt that is slightly tight for your barrel, then a headspace check would have caught it before you went to the range. Swing it by a gunsmith to have them look it over for you. It may even be a simple matter of ammo used or not clean enough chamber..... |

Yep http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_66/568381_Bolt_broke_in_half.html Model 1 sales does have a track record of selling sub-standard and out of spec parts. |
