So I just completed my first AR-15 build (and this is my first AR-15). I finished putting the upper together today and took it to the range and put 60 rounds of walmart bulk federal through it without a single issue. In any case, I figured I'd post a picture or two:

It was putting them right on top of each other at 50 yards, and into ~2-3" groups at 100 yards. I will admit, I haven't used iron sights on a rifle since I was 12 or so (on my 22). I've never used ones with a rear aperature and a front post... so I'll have to put some glass on it to really see what it can do (and of course work up a handload). I will say that building the AR was even easier than I thought it would be (based on a lot of reading on this and other forums). It really is pretty damn simple... the hardest part seems to be picking out what parts you want (I feel like I already need to build another one). The rifle really feels like I'm shooting a 22 LR with a lot more noise. There is virtually no kick (which is always appreciated). I'm also now spoiled by Pmags. Any chance magpul will be making bottom metal for a rem 700 in the future. I wish the mags for all of my weapons felt as solid for the price. So um... what else do I need to finish off my black rifle? I definitely need to get myself a quality sling (looking for something with QDs). Any recomendations? I'll get optics a bit later (wan't to lean the irons first). |

You mean "bottom plastic" don't you?  Hehe yes bottom plastic :) The trigger guard is spikes own design. They come with their enhanced LPK; however, I believe they also sell them individually. |
