I'll be starting another build in the next coming month or so, need to start my homework. I want to build a 300 BO. Any suggestions on what barrel length to go with? Gas system? I will be running a can on it.

I've "HEARD" that running anything under 11.5" would be better off with a piston system? Any truth to that? Is that more centered around going 5.56 on those lengths?

Not true.  I'm running a 8.0" 300BLK and have no issues cycling subs and supers with and without a suppressor.  Most people who have issues either have barrels with the improper gas hole size and/or have too heavy of a buffer; undergassed with a short pistol length gas system..  My setup is a standard buffer, lightweight carrier, and non-adjustable gas block.

Suppressed Piston systems aren't as good as you think.

I do t really wanna go the piston route. I brought it up because its something ive read and wanted to hear other feedback on it. Anything else you think i should know or research on before building this 300 BO?  You mentioned lightweight bcg, what would be the reason for it? I just wanna soak up as much knowledge as you guys can dish out before actually building this project
