So, I picked up my first AR-15 this past Saturday. I got it all taken down and put back together and learned all I think I can on this gun and AR-15s in general from browsing this board and others for some time now. However, I still have one question I can't seem to get answered. The gun I bought is a Bushmaster LE XM15 E2S with 16" chrome lined barrel, but I can't figure out if its a match or 556 chamber. The reciver is marked .223 and the barrel is marked 5.56 NATO. Am I to assume the barrel is the correct one to believe and my gun can consume more ammo then standard .223? I don't want to cut the life of the gun short and make sure I put the right stuff in it. But I also would like to know that the gun can swallow all (or most) that I feed it. |
ALL Bushmaster Chrome Lined barrels use the M16 chamber (which some call the 5.56 chamber). |
