So, I picked up my first AR-15 this past Saturday. I got it all taken down and put back together and learned all I think I can on this gun and AR-15s in general from browsing this board and others for some time now.

However, I still have one question I can't seem to get answered. The gun I bought is a Bushmaster LE XM15 E2S with 16" chrome lined barrel, but I can't figure out if its a match or 556 chamber. The reciver is marked .223 and the barrel is marked 5.56 NATO. Am I to assume the barrel is the correct one to believe and my gun can consume more ammo then standard .223? I don't want to cut the life of the gun short and make sure I put the right stuff in it. But I also would like to know that the gun can swallow all (or most) that I feed it.

ALL Bushmaster Chrome Lined barrels use the M16 chamber (which some call the 5.56 chamber).

What type of metal is used for the barrel? Is it 4140 or 4150? If its 4150, is it chome lined because its 4150? Or is it actually chrome lined 4150?
