I got a chance to to sling 400 rounds down range this weekend using my new 6920 and all I can say is WOW!
I have several AR's from different manufacturers including Spikes, DD, and RRA, and all of them require adjusting the rear sight substantially to the left to get the gun sighted in. I got the Colt out of the box and shot a 5 round string only to find to my amazement it was dead on out of the box. The hash mark is dead center on the aperture which was a very pleasant surpise. Fast forward past the first 100 slow shots for groups at different ranges, and it was on to double taps and mag dumps. 300 rounds later and not a single hiccup. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for my others, with the exception of the DD. Still too early to speak in absolutes, but it appears the Colt is my new go to gun when I need to be 100% sure that it is going to go bang every time. On the flip side, I feel like I was robbed because I am so pleased with the performance of this gun I can't start my very own "My new Colt is all scratched up" thread |
If it wasn't all scratched up it may not be a real Colt
Colt makes a fine rifle... i don't know if i would venture to say they are any BETTER than DD but they are definitely the finest things that have ever graced the walmart shelves haha. Colt puts out a huge quantity of rifles with very few actual problems so there is a reason they are the considered the standard. Congrats on the new rifle. |

Some type of distinguishing toe nail polish would work as long as it is a color that shows up well... just so ppl can distinguish who owns what rifle ect ect |

That's typical performance of Colt AR, I'm only a Colt owner for a short 42 years now with my small sample of former 6 pre ban (4 rifles and 2 carbines) currently I have 5, LE6920 2012 model, SP6920 2011 model, AR6721 HBAR 2010 model, AR6721 HBAR 2002 model, and a Match Target HBAR lower half with USGI M16A2 20" rifle upper half. I would suggest to fire another 200 or more rounds without FTF and you're good to go. Even my local Walmart are having more Colt carbines now, they used to only have the LE6920 but just this morning when I looked they had on display the usual standard LE6920 (with Rogers Superstoc $1,097), a 6920 MOE black model, and a 6920 SOCOM I with KAC M4 RAS rails. Pics or it didn't happen!

Too late to post pics of my outting, but I will post up a few later on. If you guys play your cards right I might be talked in to taking a few gratuitous macro shots of the scratches Didn't mean to say it was better than the DD, but that gun has had a FTF on two occasions. Could it be ammo related? Certainly. But it happened nonetheless. The Spikes and RRA, every mag dump produces a failure to extract, with a subsequent jam. To be fair, they function fine with normal slow fire, but lets face it, you gotta do a mag dump at the end of each range trip while screaming "say hello to my little friend". |

How Much Did Wally Want for the SOCOM I I didn't see the full price tag, I only saw partial price tag which is $1,4XX-ish, DSG Arms have a slightly lower price and it's also available in stock for $1,399. Ref. the Colt MSRP price of the LE6920 SOCOM I is $1,605. http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/COLESOCOM.aspx |
