I had seen the earlier threads on the new and improved 2nd generation EOtech sights - primarily rubber buttons and longer battery life. Does anybody know when these improvements will be available and SKUs or product numbers change to identify the improved models?

I called SWFA about this and they weren't real helpful. The guy told me he thought the improvements would only be on the 552 model and they didn't have any in stock (neither new or old).

I'd like an improved 551 (N battery, night vision). Can anybody help with what's the dilly?

Call SWFA again, the 551 and the 552 have the new upgrades.  rubberized buttons, 66ft submerge for 24 hours, new longer battery life.

You should be able to ge them right about now.

I spoke to a reseller yesterday who said that DoD had cleaned out most stocks of Eotechs (namely the models w/o the Mod E) and that Eoctech had gone into high gear to crank out more to resupply the dealers.

I'm willing to wait 2 weeks to get a Mod E 552 for $349.
