Tried a search, and did not get the answers I was looking for.

I had decided on a Stag Arms lower for the balance of price and quality.  The FFL dealer I will be using tells me he can get RRA lowers for only $15 more.

I am not set on any one brand, and I have only researched this on the net.  All of my experience comes from Colts.  However I refuse to pay their high prices.

So my question is which lower to go for?

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I'd get the RRA, as the deer head on an AR lower still rubs me the wrong way.  Maybe some day.............................

Flip a coin -
RRA is a better known name
Stag is a goofy looking lower - (Moooo)

They are the same MFG, so if another few buck makes no difference the RRA will be easier to trade in the future.

They are identical. I'd get a Stag from www.eaglefirearms.net for $85. The Deer head is OK, it will work the exact same as the RRA.  Spend the extra $15 on a Harris bipod stud for your handguards $9 from www.eabco.com .

I'm on his side

Personally  though, the old, pre emblem Rock River jobs are my favorites. Minimal stuff on the side. Just name, address, model #(LAR15), caliber (5.56mm), and serial no.

Anything else is overkill in my book.

Mega, just as nice as the bushmaster I paid $80 more for.

I have built on preban Oly (SGW "stop sign") lowers, but some complain of tight mag wells.  Mine were OK.

Had an Essential Arms lower, sold it and bought a PWA.  Only reason I got rid of the EA was that it was gray, not black, and could not find a matching gray upper.  The rifle functioned well, no issues.  If I had known how to use Norrell's Moly Resin back then I would have just refinished it myself.  Based on my experience with it, and others I have worked on and seen, I would buy another.

The preban PWA lower was nice, good fit, function, finish OK.

I helped out a fellow Arfcommer in an AWB state, and traded one of my preban Oly-SGW lowers for his postban Eagle Arms (Armalite) lower.  Yes, we did it all legally, going through FFL's.  That lower is as good as any I have had.

My last four builds have all been on DPMS lowers.  Two were custom engraved (Spartan helmet with Molon Labe motto, and the "Gadsden Flag" rattlesnale logo and DON'T TREAD ON ME motto).

The DPMS lowers have been perfect as far as parts fit, perfect finish.  The finish exactly matches two uppers that came from J&T.  One was put on an RRA upper, which it matches perfectly.  You just cannot tell these uppers and lowers are from different manufacturers.

DPMS, and I understand Mega, too, has a black teflon coating over the anodizing.  This is probably to even out the color, make for better color matching.  I know from products I sell getting different lots or batches of aluminum to be consistent in color is difficult.

And I have one Cavalry Arms synthetic lower.  Again, it works.

The deer head and bear look like something that should be on hunting rifles.  I kinda like the Mega logo.

...and I thought I was the only one.  Even though Stag's quality is without question everytime I picked up my carbine and saw that deer head I would be saying "DAMN!".

It's kind of like the girl with a kick ass body topped by an ugly face...

You mean that a Stag is a "butter"?
Everything looks good butter face.

I would go with RRA if I was spending the cash. I have built several ARs up using RRA lowers and I have been very happy with them all.
