I didn't know where to post an introduction, so i figured i would add it in with the Build thread I was going to start.

I have been accused of being redneck, so i guess i am. I've been into weapons my entire life everything from knives to guns to things that go BOOM. Ok enough of that long boring introduction and on to the build.

I used to hate the AR platform due to the small caliber, and how much it has been whored out over the years. Then a revelation hit me like It's the 1911 of the rifle world and the only thing limiting me is my imagination!
I started out wanting to build a .308 AR15 but I thought to myself, rebel what do you need ANOTHER .30 bullet? You have a .30-06 that puts meat on the ground and can shoot a long ways out there. So i started looking into other options 6.5 calibers, the 6.8, the .40 and 9mm for plinkers, on and on i looked. All viable options and good competitors. But something hit me like Ma Deuce on a pine tree. I want something that can go thump really hard and short to medium range. So my attention was directed to the .458 Socom, .50 Beowulf, and the .450 BM. So now i found something that thumps your in chest like rocky punching your gut. They all offered Stopping power, the perfect range, and being unique. So now came the painful part, how much will i kill my wallet...I wasn't going to pay out the butt for the rifle so i knew i had to build. Got a parts list for all the stuff i wanted. I prefer the Basic bare bones rifles. Nothing to flashy or out of the ordinary. Surprisingly they were all within $200 of each other, so being even more pleased i started looking for information and found AR15.com  So much info over the last few months my head hurts, but with my new found information the price of ammo hit me and i had no idea what any of these three cost. So i go to look it up starting with the .50 beowulf and it made me swallow a big lump just a little, but not to bad. then i looked up the .458 socom and passed out fractured my skull j/k, but i did get nauseous. So now im down to the .450BM look it up and get a pleasant surprise that it was cheaper than shooting my .30-06 so that sealed the fate of the other two.

So now i am seeking some advise on my little budget build. Here is my initial parts list my lovely wife has approved for my enjoyment for Christmas. This is the first part of my build the second will come once i get all this put together.

Still looking on magazines thinking Sig 556 but no clue in all honesty.

Upper i will probably just buy the complete upper, and swap my scope off of my 710 until i find something that i like better...it hits the mark, and i am looking to upgrade it anyway.

Is this all i need to complete the lower. Remember i am a sucker for the basic kinda things. I don't like frills and bells and whistles...I use the K.I.S.S. everywhere in my life, and my weapons are no exception. My machete has a handle and a blade and a sheath...it doesn't need a light, or night vision...that kinda thing. Help me out. Thanks!!

With the big bores you will appreciate a stock that has a recoil pad. Bushmaster has uppers on sale right now.

I just saw the upper sale, it's tempting, but i dare not approach the SGM  with another request to "blow" money on guns lol.
I was wondering about recoil pads, but since the only weapon i've ever shot to have one is my 710 it's not to big of a deal, worst thing that happens is i bruise my collar bone, cheek, or face. What are some decent stock that you can add pads too?
