Right on. Ya I love my colt I'm just ready to upgrade to a mid length gas system. I my humble opinion the 16 inch barrel was never meant to have a 7 inch gas system. IMHO the only real benefit to mid gas is being able to have a longer handguard while retaining the FSB. The 14.5 mids may shoot a tad softer but can be more ammunition sensitive. All the rest about parts wear and longevity has never been proven quantitatively. I own mid gas guns so I'm not trashing them, just never saw much difference over carbine gas in my experience. |
| Well I shot my friends 14.5 mid bcm the weekend before last and compared it to mine and mine definetly has more recoil and muzzle climb. I just want one. I kinda like to beat on my guns and run them hard and I already had to replace a bolt in the colt. not sure what the round count was but it couldnt of been more than 4000 rounds. Wanna see how a bcm holds up. |

What caused you to replace the bolt?
And there are quite a few ways to decrease your felt recoil and muzzle rise assuming your rifle is stock. Heavier buffer, spring, com or brake, adjustable gas block... All way cheaper than buying a new rifle. On the other hand, this is the best time I've seen in years to buy a BCM price wise with the recent blems |

Thank you. I like all you guys too. Very cool place. I am running an H3 buffer, JP tunned buffer spring and an FSC 556 brake. I love the rifle dont get me wrong I just think its time to add another rifle to the safe. Welcome. As they say around here, one is none, two is one. So get both |

I had one with no issues other than it not liking the cheapest ammo I could find [though that may have been partially my fault for not lubing the shit out of it] and I know a few guys who've BTDT and one that's still Doing It. and the only rifles they buy are made in Hartland, WI. And you are correct, the main benefit of the mid-length gas system is the recoil, and also the ability to have a longer sight radius/fore-end. |
| Ya I am a newbie around these parts but not to the rifle or operating it. I learned the hard way to keep my rifle lubed. Now I keep it VERY lubed. A friend of mine who owns a LGS was like "damn dude what did you do piss on that thing" because it was so wet. There are only a few points on the bcg that actually need lube (ewl slip 2000 in my case) but I make sure those points are WET. |
