I just finished my Mega lower/RRA upper project. I put a Tapco 6 position stock on it.
Here is my problem. When I pull back the charging handle, it rubs on the stock. I think a little sand paper or a Dremel will solve this problem. Have any of you ever had this to happen? How'd you fix it?

BE nice now forest,
Tapco is known for crappy stuff, so you might want to get a different one...

Just sand it down, it should be fine, pick up a better stock when that one breaks or if you have problems with it.

Before I knew any better, I purchased a couple of cheap stocks. I'll replace them when they break (it's been several years and they haven't broke yet). They are not used for Mil, LE, or competition.

Everybody keeps bashing the Tapco 6 position stock, but side by side other than the lock ring, I cant really tell it apart from the RRA 6 position stock.

They may look similar but IS this guy complaining about his CH rubbing on a RRA, Bushmaster, Colt or some other AMERICAN MADE stock?  NO, he is complaining because he got exactly what he paid for......a Chicom POS.

Just because it looks like a "real" stock does'nt mean that it will work like one.

The Tapco T6 stock, while it may be a POS, is made in the USA.

You don't pay attention in class and don't do your homework - what should the student expect?

It should look something like this when you are done:

By the way, that isn't a Tapco stock in the picture, and I didn't do the filing.  That is an RRA 6-position stock the way it came to me from the factory.  I thought it was a defect (perhaps someone at the factory got overzealous with the sander when removing flashing) until someone here kindly educated me that the flat spot is required to make clearance for the charging handle.

You won't find a teacher much better than Forest.  Go check the Maryland AR-15 Shooter's Site

Neither RRA or TAPCO actually manufacture these stocks, and both are made in the USA, you figure out the rest.

+1

I got ripped off a while back when a gunbroker hack sent me a parts rifle advertised as a DPMS factory rifle.  It came with the TAPCO stock and I had the same problem you did.  It's sturdy for shooting, but not worth extendning just to chamber a round.
