| I just built a del-ton middy rifle kit with a young mfg chrome BCG and im having a problem. When I pull the charging handle back, it slides easy about a inch then kinda jams up and needs about 5-10 pounds of force to pull it the rest of the way back. I am pretty sure this is not normal, maybe its something that will wear in? I cant visually see where its catching up at. |
How far down should the hammer go down? I pushes down easily and when its all the way down its about 2cm above from being flush with the lower. |
Well that would limit the problem to the upper receiver. Do you see any rub marks in the upper with the BCG removed? |
Bet you crushed the upper when you were installing the barrel. Did you use a proper vise block will the filler rod inserted? |
I see some slight wear marks, but where the BCG normally rides from what I understand. |
No the upper came assembled from del-ton, all I have really done is clean it and drop the BCG in. |
| Well after some tinkering and looking, it looks like the actual Bolt is VERY tight inside the BCG. It does not turn very easy at all and take substancial force to remove and insert into the BCG. Any ideas? Is this something that will loosen up after a bit of time? |
|
The bolt will loosen up with use. New gas rings can be tight. Just keep them lubed up good. One more check you might want to do, is slide the carrier by it self into the upper receiver. Just to make sure, as one person mentioned, that your upper receiver is not bent. |
+1 hammer spring could be installed incorrectly. |
Well it does the same thing when the lower is off. I put the bolt and BCG in another AR and it worked fine, I put a different BCG (well used) into the new one and it worked fine, and I swapped charging handles and the outcome is no matter what charging handle is on the new chrome bolt in the new reciever it sticks. |
|
I assume you are able to get it in and out of the receiver easliy. Or does it get physically stuck. Is the carrier key meeting the gas tube smoothly? How freely does the cam pin/bolt rotate? Does the BCG go in easy foward and gets stuck moving reward? Did you try test fitting without the charging handle. Do you see any areas of either the BCG or the upper that look to have abrasions or any signs of unusual wear? |
I think that may be it, there is a slight depression on where the gas tube connects with the BCG, but its only like 1mm if that and I really dont think that would cause it. It sticks the same with no lower and no charging handle and no bolt. The bolt is very tight and does not turn easily, (or as easy as my 39 year old SP1 )
