| I've been gathering info from this forum for awhile and am about to begin gathering parts for bench rest/varmint rifle. Am interested in getting a 24" s/s complete upper but would like a fluted bbl. Which mfrs. have this combo? Pros and cons of fluted bbls? Thanks for any info. PM |

Check J&T Distributing / Doublestar. They offer a 24 SS Bull Barrel upper with several options of fluting, porting, coating, or compensators. Sort of a build to suit option. Fluting has several pros, but only one con that I am aware of. The fluting helps with heat dissapation, reduces weight, increases tortional stiffness which lessens flex and vibration, & it looks good. The only negative I know of is if it is for a competitive grade match barrel be sure that it is fluted before the bore is rifled. At that level of shooting it can affect accuracy if it is fluted after the fact. |
