Hey all I am Chris. From the Phoenix area. I am new to owning an AR. not new to shooting them however. I recently got a Stag Arms model 2T.
https://www.stagarms.com/model-2t/

It has the basics. I would like an extended quad rail though, but want to keep my a-frame sight.  What is everyones opinions on those style rails?

I will be upgrading the charging handle, and trigger, and thats probably all. Then I would like a decent scope.  Give me some ideas please!

Welcome aboard! Might I suggest that you look through the various forums on optics, accessories, rail and such other stuff. These will provide a wealth of targeted posts that will likely answer your specific questions, abd give you some ideas you might not have thought of yet. Hope this helps.

Go to the "General" tab above and look through all of the options available there

Hello Chris.  I live in Yuma and have a couple of AR's.  I have found that the metal front stocks get to hot in the summer here.  I use the MagPul with added rails to keep the heat down.  The best way to go is to get your accessories then choose a front stock.  The optional rails on the MagPul MOE will take most things but you can also drill holes for mounting in between the provided slots.  I have a 6 inch laser so I needed to mount it in the 2 o'clock position.  Take your time deciding what parts you want as the fun of an AR is making it exactly the way you want it.  United Nations Ammo in Glendale sells a killer front pistol grip that has a bipod that springs out.  Enjoy your rifle.

Welcome!

Only you can know what you will be comfortable with, so my best suggestion is to find a store or hit up a gunshow and have a list of what you would like to try out and then go to town and see what you can find.
Besides what works for you, money will also come into play.  A quad rail can cost as little as 50 bucks or it can cost upwards of 200.
If you change something out and end up not liking it, have no fear - there are always a variety of possible replacements.  I went through I think 4 grips, 3 or 4 vert foregrips, 4 quad rails, 3 sets of optics, and at least 2 triggers before I found what "worked" well for me and what I was comfortable with.

If you have questions on certain makers or certain parts - ask away!  We are here to help.

A very general rule of thumb is to avoid chinese knock off type stuff.  Stick with names you see here on the forums, and what many of our forum sponsors sell and you should be good and get a quality product.

For the rail you are looking for, I think Midwest Industries, Troy, Daniel Defense, UTG  make them.  I think they are a fine option to give you some more rail space to work with to mount a light or whatever you need to put on out beyond the front sight.

Welcome!  I'm in North Phoenix - Happy Valley and I-17 area

If you'd like to try a few different AR rifles, I'd be happy to meet up with you and let you shoot some of my rifles one day.

I've got one with a FF quad rail and a couple with MOE hand guards.  As far as optics, mine are all no magnification - EOTech XPS-2, Aimpoint PRO, and a Primary Arms red dot.  My son has a Sig M400 SRP with the 3x glass that came from the factory.  You may also be interested in the lights that I've installed on my rifles.

Your AR modifications really come down to your intended use of the rifle.  What is it that the extended rail will do that the current rail doesn't?

ETA:  By the way, check in to the AZ HTF (Hometown Forum) here:

Welcome aboard and congrats on your new purchase. What's your budget for the quad rail? The two that i would suggest would be the Daniel Defense M4A1 RIS II and the Centurion arms extended cut out. Midwest industries also make one I believe.

Sorry, I had to ask, what is a front stock? Are you referring to the handguard?

budget is under 200. The MI one, and one from TI are on my short list right now. Might have a trade worked for the Samson one that came on the gun.

I have upgraded the gun a bit. It will have MI extended quad rail on it soon, I swapped the BUIS for a magpul, and have upgraded to a nice adjustable two stage trigger. Also swapped out the stock for a battlelink minimalist. its nice and light now, and should outperform my dads sig, and my brothers palmetto.
