i just got in a bull barrel upper assy. today from dpms. i haven't fired it yet but if you cycle it by hand it feels fine without ammo. when you cycle ammo through it by hand it seems hard to get the bolt to unlock from the barrel extension. is this something that will go away with wear or is it a problem?

Welcome! You have come to the right place.

It probably will. What type of ammo, and did you strip it and lube it up properly yet. Some people don't realize that is mostly a surface protector, and doesn't lube anything well.

Try shooting it then come back if there is an issue.  Hand cycling does not do a good job of showing if your rifle is working properly - too many differences in the variables.

As with any rifle/shotgun/handgun this is true.

Pump some rounds through it and report back
